WORKSHOP 2 -Draw it! Final Presentation and Poster

The following pictures are the presentation of my final work with a poster and two A2 sized rendered drawings.

During the rending process I realized that my drawing skills and techniques need to be improved. I explored several techniques of rendering and found the shading of pencil shavings to be the most effective, as well as using the colour pencil. And the reason why I chose these two point of views were that it shows fundamental characteristics of the Fisher House and the relationship (connection) between this house and its environmental surroundings.

This workshop taught me insight into the understanding of a building through its plans, sections and elevations. I was quite enjoying drawing the perspectives of the fisher house. Although I drew badly on my first attempt, however, I can see the improvement of my drawing techniques through the process of drawing later on.  In my opinion, architectural drawing is one of the best methods of expressing and communicating concepts in architectural communications.

WORKSHOP 2 - Draw it! Processing

The following pictures are the works I did during the workshop 2, which show the improvements of skills as well as the exploration of how to convey the architecture concept by using on of the most power tools in architectural communications- architectural drawing.

WORKSHOP 1 - Model it! Summary

This poster is the summary of my work in the last three weeks. It shows the model making process as well as the quality of each result. In conclusion, I found that workshop 1 to be very useful, interesting workshop. We gain the model-making skills during the step-by-step tasks. In my opinion, model is a powerful tool in Architectural communications. It can show the idea, the concept design, context, texture, details etc of a specific building. Therefore, model-making process is the key process of the architectural design.

The following pictures are the combination of all the works I’ve done for the workshop 1. I tried to change the position of each model to achieve different outcomes.

WORKSHOP 1 - Model it! Week 3 Take-Home Exercise

Fisher House by Louis Kahn
Scale: 1:50

This is the model of Fisher House (at 1:50) by Louis Kahn. This model, of course, is the most challenging task in this workshop. It shows the aesthetic details of the house. However, not every detail can be modeled in one week so a focus on the key features such as the window frames, room divisions and stairs was chosen. Others like inbuilt features such as the seat were omitted.

WORKSHOP 1 - Model it! Week 3 In-Class Exercise

In this activity we were asked to make a part of fisher house, with long-side windows, "bird box", and a wired chair which can see through the bird box.
